Collapsing chimney

Hi

Need help please.

My sister bought a house a month ago.Yesterday the chimney collapsed and landed in the lounge. After we studied the plans we realized that the previous owner removed the fireplace and left the chimney resting on the trusses.Insurance say its faulty workmanship(not going to pay)Who is responsible???What can we do????House is a mess.

Re: Collapsing chimney
Sometimes depends on the age of the house.

How old is the house.

From what you explain this is called a "latent defect" and you have recourse against the previous owner.
