On Project Management in construction.

Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to a broad range of activities in order to meet the requirements of the particular project. A project is a temporary endeavor having a start and an end undertaken to achieve a particular aim. Project management knowledge and practices are best described in terms of their component processes. These processes can be placed into five Process Groups: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling and Closing.

For building project management this means that a building project needs to be initiated within a contract or by initiative. The building project also needs to be planned in terms of product and processes. Contractors may have perform and execute the project, while it is under the controll of a building project manager. Closure of the building projects that everyting is standing to the satisfaction of the customer.
